Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)'s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said on Tuesday (19 May) that over 300 terrorists are present in the launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), reports Economic Times.
While a fairly big number of terrorists are awaiting an opportunity to cross over the LoC to the Indian side, DGP Singh revealed that as many as 240 terrorists are also active inside the Union Territory (UT). However, he also added that the numbers are quickly coming down.
DGP Singh highlighted that they had started with a figure of 270 at the beginning of the year and have gradually eliminated many of them to bring down the tally to 240.
Meanwhile, giving an approximate breakdown of the terrorists present in the launch pads across the LoC, DGP Singh said that on the Kashmir side, the count of such terrorists stands in the range of 150-200, while the count on Jammu side stands in the range of 100-125 as per the latest assessment of the intelligence agencies.
DGP Singh also revealed so far four groups of terrorists have managed to infiltrate into the Union Territory (UT) with the support of notorious acts by Pakistani Army.
"Regarding the International Border (IB), two to three terrorist groups have been able to infiltrate so far during the current year. That kind of notorious act by Pakistan continues," he said.
