28 April 2023 has been fixed as the release date for the second movie based on Ponniyin Selvan, a Tamil magnum opus written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
Much like the first movie, PS-1, the second part, i.e., PS-2 is one of the most anticipated movies of 2023.
The clip posted on Twitter to announce the film's release date opens with a scene in which Aditya Karikalan (Vikram) is seen sitting in front of an idol of Kali. It also shows glimpses of the other main characters—Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), Vandiyathevan (Karthi), and Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi).
Following the release of PS-1, there was a massive social media debate as people like film director Vetrimaaran and actor Kamal Haasan had said that the Cholas were not Hindus.
