Rahul Gandhi Concedes Defeat, Congratulates PM Modi For Victory; Offers To Resign

With senior party leader Randeep Surjewala by his side, the Congress party president Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today convened a short press briefing which lasted just about 7-minutes.
During the press conference, Gandhi accepted his party's defeat and said that, “The public has given its decision and I respect that," Gandhi congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its thumping win.
Terming his fight against the BJP a fight of ideology, he said that the Congress party leaders and workers across the nation must not lose confidence with this defeat. Gandhi further added that the he and the Congress Working Committee will be meeting and analysing the election outcomes.
Lastly, before ending the briefing, Gandhi congratulated Smriti Irani for her win in Amethi Lok Sabha seat against him and asked her to look after the constituency of Amethi with 'love'.
As per media reports Rahul Gandhi has also offered to resign from the post of party president.
