The Congress party has revealed its list of star campaigners for by-poll in the Salt state assembly seat in Uttarakhand.
Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra, and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be among the star campaigners for the by-poll.
Vice-president of the Congress' unit Suryakant Dhasmana has reportedly said that the Congress will win the bypoll as now people know that the BJP "never intended to work for the benefit of the state. The BJP government has failed on every front."
The seat was vacated in November 2020 after BJP MLA from the constituency, Surendra Jeena died due to Covid-19 infection and related complications. Congress has fielded Ganga Pancholi and BJP has fielded Mahesh Jeena, a relative of the deceased MLA.
Meanwhile, the BJP also released its list of campaigners for the assembly seat by poll. While all prominent leaders from the BJP featured in the list containing 30 names, including current chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat and HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the name of former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was missing.
Besides, another former CM Vijay Bahuguna's name was also missing from the BJP list.
Later, a revised list was issued by the BJP state unit that included both former CMs names as star campaigners for the by-poll.
