Rape accused ‘activist’ Talib Hussain who had spearheaded the agitation to seek justice for the Kathua rape victim, joined the PDP on Monday (25 March).
His entry into the Jammu and Kashmir based party was announced by former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. She personally welcomed him into the party.
Happy to welcome well known tribal rights activist Chowdhary Talib Hussain into PDP today. He fought tirelessly to ensure justice for Rasana rape victim at the cost of his personal safety. Im confident he will work tirelessly towards our vision for a khushaal J&K. pic.twitter.com/CQRSgO5n4a

Mufti in her welcome message glossed over his sketchy record and called him a “well known tribal rights activist who fought tirelessly to ensure justice for the Rasana rape victim”.
She also hoped that Hussain would work towards the vision of “khushaal J&K”.
Incidentally, Hussain attained national fame after he spearheaded the stir to ensure justice for the Kathua rape victim. Soon after that skeletons began tumbling out of his closet.
As per reports, he was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on the charge of raping a married woman in the Majalta forest area in Udhampur. Prior to that, his wife Nusrat Begum had filed a First Information Report against him alleging that she was subjected to physical torture by him for dowry.
