Mukesh Ambani-led telco Reliance Jio will dominate 40 per cent to 45 per cent market share by Financial Year (FY) 22 due to the cheap tariff plans which are still 25 per cent to 30 per cent cheaper than those of rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, the Telecom Talk reports.
According to India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra), Airtel and Vodafone Idea will have a market share of 25 per cent to 27 per cent each. Currently, Reliance Jio has a subscriber base of over 340 million subscribers (33 per cent market share).
Ind-Ra believes the telecommunications services sector will remain in the negative outlook for the remainder of FY20 and will face pressure due to high debt, intense competition.
Currently, Reliance Jio holds the lead in the prepaid segment, while Airtel and Vodafone-Idea lead in the postpaid segment due to their attractive bundled offerings. However, Ind-Ra believes it is all set to change with the likely launch of Jio Postpaid Plus on 5 September.
