Sasikala Will Be The Next Chief Minister Of Tamil Nadu As O Panneerselvam Resigns

V K Sasikala is all set to be the new Tamil Nadu Chief Minister after O Panneerselvam resigned from his post. This happened after All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLAs elected Sasikala to the position. The developments came during a meeting of AIADMK MLAs where she was elected as the legislative party leader.

But, she will have to contest and win an election to become an MLA within a period of six months to continue being the chief minister. On 3 February, Sasikala who is called 'Chinnamma' by her partymen issued a statement that around 15 leaders of AIADMK, including prominent leaders K A Sengottaiyan, Gokula Indira, B V Ramana, Saidai S Duraisamy and S Anbazhagan, had been made organising secretaries of the party.
Earlier, senior AIADMK leaders, like the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, had been demanding that Sasikala should take over the leadership of the state government and the party. Sasikala became the general secretary of AIADMK on 30 December, 2016. She had been a close aide of the late CM Jayalalithaa for around three decades.
