Congress president Rahul Gandhi has made a slew of new appointments to the All India Congress Committee (AICC), with K C Venugopal replacing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as general secretary of the body, while sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been designated as AICC general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East, as per a press release.
Senior Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has been appointed general secretary of Uttar Pradesh West. Veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been relieved from his role as general secretary for Uttar Pradesh and will, from now on, be AICC general secretary for Haryana.
Apart from heading the body at the national level, Venugopal will retain his role as general secretary for Karnataka.
