Star India Trumps Sony, Bags Exclusive Distribution Rights For TV Today Network

Sony Pictures Network India has been stripped of distribution mandate of TV today Network reports the Television Post. Their rivals Star India have been awarded the rights which will make them the exclusive distribution agents of channels in the TV Today network.
Star will now be able to distribute India Today TV, Aaj Tak, and Tez news channels.
TVTN informed the change of broadcasting agents through a public notice. “We wish to inform you that effective November 1, 2018 (“Effective date”), we have appointed Star as our agent/distributor for distributing at standard definition television channels namely India Today Television, Tez, Aaj Tak and also the to be launch high definition television channel namely Aaj Tak HD (TVTN Channels) to Cable, Headend in the Sky (HITS), direct to home (DTH) and Internet protocol television (IPTV) distribution platforms in India.”
Distribution platform operators (DPOs) have been told to contact Star for all aspects concerning distribution and continued transmission of TVTN channels. Star on behalf of TVTN will raise all bills for subscription fees which were due and was payable by the DPOs.
The notice further states Star has started the process of uploading the Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) for TVTN channels. Until further notice as per applicable laws, the existing rates of TVTN channels will continue.
