The coastal town of Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu is likely to host the second informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, reports Times of India.
The summit between both leaders is scheduled between 11-13 October this year. The first summit between PM Modi and President Jinping happened last year in Wuhan of China on 27-28 April 2018.
According to the report, PM Modi’s constituency Varanasi was earlier chosen as the venue for the meet but the government may instead chose Mamallapuram, a source was cited in the report as saying.
High-level governmental and security teams conducted recce and drills. As per a Tamil Nadu minister quoted in the report, the teams have checked out several heritage towns across the country and are likely to finalise Mamallapuram as the venue for the informal summit between the two leaders. However, there is no confirmation as of yet, the minister said.
As per the report, besides the business of summit and talks, the dignitaries are expected to visit the ancient monuments, the shore temple and the seven pagodas, which has a Unesco World Heritage Site tag.
