United States (US)'s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said yesterday (24 April) that the US is working with other nations to ensure that everyone understands that Novel Coronavirus originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, reports Financial Express.
In an interview, Pompeo said that the onus is on Beijing to explain where the virus came from. He stressed that China knew about the virus by December 2019.
He added the the parties responsible for widespread damage to economy and for the deaths in US need to be hold accountable.
Pompeo also asserted that on the diplomatic front, the US Government is reaching out to countries across the globe to help their economies get back started, and to ensure that when the time is right, international travel can be kicked back up so that global commerce can recommence.
Slamming the dragon nation, Pompeo lambasted that China failed to comply with their most fundamental obligations as a nation. He also also slammed China for its failure to comply with the international health regulations of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Pompeo also underscored that the world's largest businesses could now see the political risk associated with operating in China.
Pompeo further claimed that the World Health Organisation failed in its mission to protect the world from the pandemic.
He said, “We’re not going to let that happen again, and we’re going to set up something, a system, which delivers an outcome which reduces the risk that anything like this can ever happen again, from China or from anyplace else.”
