Talking to ANI, Congress leader from Kerala, P C Chacko, criticised what he claimed was “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s negative opinion about the first family of India.”
Continuing with his ‘first family’ adulation, Chacko said, “The first family of India is truly the first family of India, India is obliged to them.”

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on the success of India’s maiden anti-satellite missile test, ‘Mission Shakti’, the Congress leader asserted that India is what it is today only because of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s’ contributions like the Green Revolution, White Revolution, etc.
The remarks raised controversy across social media, even as heated debate continued over the credit for successful Mission Shakti. Twitterati pointed out that several of the initiatives mentioned by Chacko were launched long after Nehru’s death.
After the anti-satellite missile test was announced in a public speech by Prime Minister Modi, many pro-opposition Twitter accounts began to circulate claims that it was only because of Nehru’s vision that India has taken the first steps towards starting its own space programme. The counter-narrative was that Nehru had little, if anything at all, to do with the formation of ISRO, which was created several years after his demise.
