The CBI has alleged that Nalini Chidambaram had received Rs 1.4 crore from Saradha group of companies involved in the scam.
As per a Press Trust of India report, CBI accuses Nalini Chidambaram of entering into a criminal conspiracy with Sharada’s proprietor Sudipta Sen and others to misappropriate the company’s funds.
It has been claimed that the estranged wife of former Union Minister Matang Sinh had introduced Nalini Chidambaram to Sen to “manage” probes by SEBI and others.
It was earlier reported that Nalini Chidambaram had sought quashing of the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear as a witness in a money laundering probe in this matter. The plea was dismissed by Madras High Court.
Currently her husband P Chidambaram and son Karti Chidambaram are embroiled in the Aircel-Maxis case.
