93 Constituencies Vote In Third Phase Of Lok Sabha Elections: Two Former BJP Chief Ministers, Three Union Ministers In Fray

The third phase of Lok Sabha elections is today (7 May) with voting being held in 93 Parliamentary Constituencies of 12 States and Union Territories.

Four constituencies each of Assam and West Bengal will vote today. Polling in Chhattisgarh will end with voting on seven remaining seats in this phase.

Similarly, Karnataka will conclude polling by voting on the remaining 14 seats. All constituencies of Gujarat (26), Goa (two) and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (two) will vote today.

Five constituencies of Bihar, eight of Madhya Pradesh, 11 of Maharashtra, 10 of Uttar Pradesh will vote today.

Among the key BJP leaders facing contest in this phase are two former Chief Ministers and two Union Ministers, who are looking to retain their seats.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting from Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha. Basavraj Bommai is contesting in Karnataka's Haveri against Congress' Anand Swamy Gaddadevarmath.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wants to retain his Gandhinagar seat, which he won in 2019, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi wants to retain Dharwad.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting from his home turf of Guna. Another interesting contest is in Baramati where Supriya Sule is being challenged by Sunetra Pawar.

In Assam's Dhubri, All India United Democratic Front's (AIUDF) Badruddin Ajmal is looking to retain the seat, he has been winning since 2009.
