The Aam Aadmi Party has named its MP Raghav Chadha as the party's leader in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Sanjay Singh, who is in jail in connection with ED probe money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy scam.
The AAP party leadership has communicated to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha that Raghav Chadha will take over as the party's leader in the upper house, succeeding Sanjay Singh.
The party in its letter said that Sanjay Singh was dealing with "health issues".
AAP MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in October in a money laundering case linked to the investigation into the Delhi liquor policy.
The Rajya Sabha secretariat has confirmed receiving a letter from the AAP about the appointment of Chadha as their floor leader, PTI reported citing sources.
The letter is with the Rajy Sabha Secretary General for implementation.
Chadha is among the youngest members of the Rajya Sabha, with the AAP currently holding a total of 10 seats in the Upper House.
In terms of strength in the Rajya Sabha, the AAP ranks fourth, following the BJP, the Congress, and the TMC.
