Indian Railways Passenger Earnings Up By 76 Per Cent Post-Covid

With the train operation resuming complete normalcy post-Covid, the Railways earnings from passenger segment has increased by 76 per cent in the current fiscal.
According to the Railways data prepared by the finance directorate, the total passenger earnings during April to November 2022 is Rs 43,324 crore, registering an increase of 76 per cent in comparison to Rs 24,631 crore achieved during the same period last year.
In the reserved passenger segment, the total number of passengers booked during April 1 to November 30 this year is 5,365 lakhs as compared to 4,860 lakhs during the corresponding period last year, showing an increase of 10 per cent.
The revenue generated from the reserved passenger segment during the period April-November 2022 is Rs 34,303 crore as compared to Rs 22, 904 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 50 per cent.
In the unreserved passenger segment, the total number of passengers booked during the period April-November 2022 is 35,273 lakhs as compared to 13,813 lakhs during the corresponding period last year, registering a growth of 155 per cent.
The revenue generated from unreserved passenger segments during the period April to November 2022 is Rs 9,021 crore as compared to Rs 1,728 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 422 per cent.
