A powerful earthquake struck a remote region of Nepal, resulting in the tragic loss of over 120 lives and leaving at least 140 individuals injured. The incident was reported on the early morning of November 4.

The earthquake's impact was felt as far away as Delhi, approximately 500 kilometers from the quake's epicenter. Strong tremors were experienced in Lucknow and various regions of Uttar Pradesh, which are relatively nearer to Nepal

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal, also known as 'Prachanda,' swiftly led a medical team to the affected area on Saturday morning. Both the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to undertake rescue operations, as stated by officials.

Nepal is situated on a significant geological fault line, where the Indian tectonic plate converges with the Eurasian plate, giving rise to the Himalayan mountain range.

Consequently, earthquakes are a recurrent phenomenon in the region. In 2015, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of nearly 9,000 people in Nepal, causing widespread destruction, including the collapse of more than half a million homes.

In November 2022, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Doti district, near Jajarkot, resulting in six casualties.
