President Murmu Inaugurated Project ‘Development Of Srisailam’ Under PRASHAD Scheme

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday (26 December) inaugurated the project “Development of Srisailam Temple in the State of Andhra Pradesh” at Srisailam Temple Complex, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The project has been sanctioned and executed under PRASHAD scheme which is National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive of the Ministry of Tourism.
PRASHAD is a central sector scheme with complete financial assistance by the Government of India. The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in the year 2014-15 with the vision of focused integrated infrastructure development to harness pilgrimage and heritage tourism destinations for its direct and multiplier effect upon employment generation and economic development.
The project “Development of Srisailam Temple in the state of Andhra Pradesh” has been completed with a cost of Rs 43.08 crores.
The components executed in the project include interventions like Amphitheatre, Illuminations and Sound and Light Show, Digital Interventions, Tourist Amenity Center, Parking area, Changing rooms, Toilet Complexes, Souvenir Shops, Food court, ATM and Banking Facility.
As per the release, these interventions aimed at making Srisailam Temple a world class pilgrimage and tourist destinations by providing state-of-the-art facilities for visitors.
President is on a five day tour of Secunderabad, Telangana for winter sojourn at Rashtrapati Nilayam from 26 to 30 December 2022.
After inaugurating the project, Murmu visited the Sri Shivaji Spoorthy Kendram at Srisailam, where she paid floral tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and interacted with women, men and children of Chenchu Tribal Community.
On 28 December, the President will visit Sri Seetharama Chandra Swamyvari Devasthanam, Bhadrachalam and lay the foundation stone for the development of tourism infrastructure at Bhadrachalam Temple under PRASHAD scheme.
On the same day, the President will visit Ramappa Temple in Warangal district where she will lay the foundation stones for development of tourism infrastructure at Ramappa Temple and restoration of Kameshwaralaya Temple.
