Tesla, the renowned electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is on the verge of establishing its manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India.
As per reports by Livemint, negotiations for the creation of Tesla's first manufacturing unit in the country have reached an advanced stage and are expected to conclude shortly.
The official announcement regarding Tesla's manufacturing unit in the state is anticipated to be made during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit scheduled for January 2024.
Gujarat has long been a strategic choice for businesses, housing manufacturing units of prominent automakers like Maruti Suzuki.
The potential locations for Tesla's manufacturing plant in the state could include Sanand, Becharaji, and Dholera, according to Ahmedabad Mirror.
Drawing parallels with Elon Musk's vision, Gujarat Health Minister and government spokesperson Rushikesh Patel underscored the alignment between Tesla's goals and the state's aspirations.
Speaking at a Cabinet briefing on Thursday (28 December), Minister Patel expressed considerable optimism that Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, would choose Gujarat for investment, emphasising the government's welcoming stance.
He acknowledged the ongoing discussions with Tesla and extended a warm welcome to Elon Musk, signaling the state's eagerness to facilitate the investment process.
Minister Patel also highlighted the active communication in progress, indicating the seriousness of the discussions surrounding Tesla's potential investment in Gujarat.
As the negotiations reach their final stages, the entry of Tesla into the Indian market appears imminent, marking a significant development in the country's electric vehicle landscape.
