Nuh's Superintendent of Police (SP), Narendra Bijarnia, has officially pressed charges against Congress MLA Mamman Khan for his alleged role in provoking violence in Nuh on 31 July.
Bijarnia stated that the investigations have provided substantial evidence against Khan for his alleged role in inciting the violence. It has been revealed that Khan was present at the scene before the violence erupted.
During a press conference on Friday (15 September), the SP stated, "He was accused of inciting violence. The police will present him in court for remand. His role has come to light in the investigation so far. He was present there before the violence started."
SP Narendra Bijarnia further informed that to date, there have been 60 FIRs filed and 330 individuals arrested in connection with the violence against Brijmandal Yatra.
Additionally, 11 cases have been registered against individuals who allegedly incited violence through social media, resulting in the arrest of five people.
He also mentioned the involvement of Pakistan in the violence, saying, "Investigations have revealed that there are some YouTube and Telegram channels with connections across the border (Pakistan), which play a role in inciting violence in any unpleasant event."
After Mamman Khan's arrest, Section 144 has been imposed in Nuh, and internet services have been suspended for two days. DC Dhirendra Khadgata explained, "To prevent any untoward incident, we have imposed Section 144. We have also ordered the shutdown of the internet. We have appealed to people to offer Friday prayers at home. As the situation normalizes, we will move towards normalcy."
Earlier, Khan, the MLA from Ferozepur Jhirka in Haryana, was arrested by Haryana Police and has been named as an accused in one of the First Information Reports filed in the state.
