The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly conducted raids at 30 locations across Dakshina Kannada and nearby areas in connection with the murder case of late BJYM leader Praveen Nettaru on Tuesday (6 September).
Various structures owned by leaders of Social Democratic Party of India(SDPI) and relatives of the ten accused in the case across Sullia, Bellare, Puttur, Uppinangady, Vitla among others were raided.
As per reports, the NIA also raided Freedom Community hall, that is ‘exclusively used for SDPI actiivites’ in Mittoru near Vitla.
Karnataka government had on 29 July announced handing over the murder case to the central agency NIA following widespread outrage against the barbaric killing of the BJYM leader in Sullia.
Karnataka police had arrested a total of ten accused until 11 August, seven of whom were first arrested while the remaining three were said to be absconding.
After which, ADGP Alok Kumar said the case would be handed over to the NIA. Among these ten, the NIA took the first five into custody on 20 August.
As reported, the NIA had sought the custody of the accused till 23 August after the state police completed custodial investigations on 16 August. The same was granted to them by a special court for terrorism cases in Karnataka.
