According to reports by HT Tamil and ThanthiTV, Congress candidate S Palani Nadar has been declared the winner of the Tenkasi Assembly constituency in the 2021 Assembly elections after a recount of postal votes ordered by the Madras High Court.
The order to recount postal votes was given in a plea by the losing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) candidate, S Selva Mohandas Pandian.
After the recount, Palani Nadar's margin of victory reduced by 2 votes, i.e., from 370 to 368.
The reports stated that the result would now be submitted to the court.
The recount, which was conducted at the office of the District Collector, was stopped in between due to a complaint by the AIADMK stating that officials were counting only those votes in Box 13C instead of all the boxes.
