The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is raiding nine premises connected to Higher Education minister K Ponmudy and his son P Gowthamasigamani, who is a Lok Sabha MP.
Ponmudy's official residence in Chennai and properties in Villupuram are being searched.
The ED had earlier attached assets worth Rs 8.6 crore, belonging to Gowthamasigamani for violating Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) norms.
The raids come around a month after the arrest of minister Senthil Balaji by the ED.
While the ED has not officially announced the reason for the raids on senior DMK minister K Ponmudy, he is facing cases of land-grab and misusing his power to grant permits for red sand quarrying.
