Indian Institute Of Science Ranked Top Research Varsity Globally Ahead Of Harvard And MIT In QS World University Rankings

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru has been ranked the top university in India in the latest QS World University Rankings.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), global higher education analysts, on Thursday released the 19th edition of the university ranking.

The other Indian institutes that were ranked in the top 250 global institutions are IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi and IIT Madras.

IISc was ranked at 155th position in the rankings, registering an improvement of 31 places compared to last year. The Institute was ranked 186th best university globally last year.

As many as eight IITs have made it to the top 500 universities in the rankings.

IISc Bengaluru remains the world’s top research university, ahead of Harvard, Princeton University and MIT.

IITs in Guwahati (37th) and Roorkee (47th) and new entrant University of Madras (48th) also made it to the elite list of global Top 50 research institutions.

Globally, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was ranked the top university, followed by University of Cambridge, Stanford University, Oxford University and Harvard University.
