'Fake News, Peddled By Pakistani Intelligence': India Rejects Report On MEA's "Secret Memo" Targeting Khalistani Terrorists

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday (10 December) night strongly denounced a recent media report as "fake" and "completely fabricated".
The article, published by the American online media platform, The Intercept, implied that India had issued a "secret memo" in April aimed at implementing "concrete" measures against Khalistani terrorists, including Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for MEA, refuted the allegations, stating that the report is merely a component of an ongoing "sustained disinformation campaign" targeting India.
He underscored the media outlet's track record of circulating "fake narratives" associated with Pakistani intelligence.
"We strongly assert that such reports are fake and completely fabricated. There is no such memo. This is part of a sustained disinformation campaign against India. The outlet in question is known for propagating fake narratives peddled by Pakistani intelligence. The posts of the authors confirm this linkage," Bagchi said.
"Those who amplify such fake news only do so at the cost of their own credibility," he added.
The Intercept report alleged that the India's Ministry of External Affairs launched a “sophisticated crackdown scheme” against Sikh separatists in western countries, listing several "Sikh dissidents under investigation by India’s intelligence agencies, including the Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar".
