Ten Nepali students were killed while four others were injured in armed attacks by the Palestinian Islamist terror group Hamas on Israel on Saturday.
As many as 17 Nepali students in Kibbutz Alumim, an area near the Gaza Strip, came under direct attack by the Hamas terrorists. Of them, only two, who are under police protection, were left uninjured, the Kathmandu Post reported.
Further, a Nepalese citizen is still missing.
According to Nepalese Foreign Affairs N P Saud, 4,500 Nepalis are working in Israel as caregivers.
Similarly, a total of 265 Nepali students are studying in Israel under the ‘Learn and Earn’ programme of the Israeli government. Of them, 119 are from Agriculture and Forestry University, 97 from Tribhuvan University and 49 Sudur Paschim University.
More than 700 people have been killed in Israel since the surprise attack by Hamas on Saturday morning. In retaliatory action, Israel's counterstrikes have so far killed around 400 people in Palestine.
The fatalities in Israel add to Hamas taking hostage several citizens, including women and children. As per Hamas leaders, the Israeli prisoners under their custody were ‘several times greater’ than dozens. They said that the group had enough captives to make Israel free all the Palestinian prisoners in its jails, India Today reported.
