73 Per Cent Of Indians Say Nation In Heading In The Right Direction; Most Worried About Terrorism After Pulwama

According to a recent Ipsos survey, at least 73 per cent of Indians are optimistic that the nation is headed in the right direction and most of them are worried primarily about terrorism, unemployment and political corruption.

As per the “What Worries the World - March 2019" report, India bucks the global pessimist trend. “Majority of people across the participating 28 nations feel their country is on the wrong track (58% on average),” the report said.

Topping the list is China, with more than 94 per cent of Chinese saying they are most confident about its national direction. The country is followed by Saudi Arabia (84 per cent) and India (73 per cent).

“India and Sweden are the nations with the greatest month on month increase in the positive sentiment of all 28 countries, with both reporting an 8-point increase in those seeing the nations as heading in the right direction,” adds the report.

Pulwama Attack Has People Worried

“Pulwama terror strike has propelled terrorism to the fore. It was way down in the pecking order in the past waves. Terrorism is bothering Indians the most,” said Parijat Chakraborty, Service Line Leader, Ipsos Public Affairs, Customer Experience and Corporate Reputation.

'What Worries the World' is a monthly online survey of adults aged under 65 in 28 countries including India, China, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
