BJP Takes The Fight To Jagan And Naidu: Joins Hand With Jana Sena To Become Third Front In Andhra

The BJP on Thursday (16 January) announced an alliance with Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena to effectively emerge as the third front in Andhra Pradesh, to provide direct electoral competition to Jagan Reddy’s YSRCP and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP, Press Trust of India has reported.

The news of the alliance was announced by the State BJP president Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan following a meeting in Vijayawada. The duo claimed that they will work towards ending “casteist, dynastic and corrupt” regimes in the state and will clinch power in the 2024 polls.

“From the upcoming elections to the local bodies, our alliance will fight together till the 2024 general elections for the betterment of the State. Our alliance is intended to protect the state”, the leaders said in a statement.

Until recently the BJP was an ally with the Chandrababu Naidu led TDP until the latter severed the ties over not getting a special status for Andhra.

Earlier this year the TDP was routed in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls which later led Naidu to express regret over leaving the NDA. The BJP though has asserted that there is no question of the party again joining hands with the TDP.
