Chandrayaan-2: Moon Mission Launch Called Off By ISRO 56 Minutes Before Lift-Off Due To ‘Technical Snag’
The India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has called off the launch of its second Moon mission, Chandrayaan-2, due to a ‘technical snag’.
According to the agency, the technical snag was observed around 56 minutes before the scheduled lift-off of the launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on the barrier island of Sriharikota off India's south-eastern coast.
The mission was to be launched at 2:51 am.
ISRO will soon announce a new date for the launch of the mission.
The filling of liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen fuels had been completed just a few minutes before the countdown for lift-off was put on hold.
ISRO has not provided details about the ‘technical snag’. The agency has not clarified if the technical glitch was with the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft or the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-III, its heaviest rocket.
