Flights In North India To Resume After DGCA Withdraws Suspension Notice; All Flights To Kashmir Cancelled For The Day

The suspension by the government of all flights to several North Indian airports is no longer effective, and most flights can operate normally, reports Zee News. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has stated that NOTAM (Notice to Airmen; meant to warn aircraft pilots of potential hazards) has been withdrawn.

The affected airports in North India were Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Dharamshala. Flight operations can resume normally, however, all flights towards Kashmir scheduled today have been cancelled.

The suspension order had been issued after F-16s belonging to the PAF reportedly entered into the Indian airspace after crossing the LoC, in what is believed to be a response to a strike by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) terror camp in Balakot, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

One of the PAF aircraft was shot down, while IAF lost a Mig-21 Bison in the engagement, as per an official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar.
