After successful trials at 180 km/hr of India’s fastest and first fireproof train, the Railway Ministry has asked the Integral Coach Factory of Chennai to fasten the manufacturing of more such train sets, reports the Financial Express.
The Railway Board issued a circular to the ICF, telling the Chennai-based coach factory to manufacture four more Train-18 sets in the ongoing production year. Before this, the ICF had received a directive to manufacture another Train-18 set by March 2019.
In the circular, it was said that a Piyush Goyal led-meeting of the Railway Board took place on 5 December. At the meeting, the board said, “necessary action should be taken” to manufacture four Train-18’s in the ongoing year.
In the circular, the Railway Board lauded success of “new indigenous train set (T-18)” while adding that necessary changes in the production programme (of ICF) will be communicated shortly.
Meanwhile, the coach factory was directed to start picking up material needed, as well as scheduling the production activity.
