Celebrity Mallika Dua while addressing the sexual harassment allegations levelled against her father Vinod Dua by filmmaker Nishtha Jain, has said that she will “stand by him” and also pledged solidarity with the #Metoo movement.
"If at all my father is truly guilty of what you described, it is unacceptable, traumatic and painful," Mallika said on Sunday (14 October) in a tweet.
Jain put up a strongly worded Facebook post on Sunday (14 October), calling the journalist out for his alleged sexual harassment while referencing actor Akshay Kumar’s indecorous remark at Mallika on a comedy reality show.
Mallika retorted saying that Jain dragging her name into the controversy was inappropriate as it was not her battle to fight.
In her statement, she said, "This is not my battle to fight. It's not my responsibility or my shame or my burden. I will deal with this my way and on my time. Stop forcing women to give statements for your entertainment.”
"I stand with the movement and will not let the shamers hijack its objectives, ideals and purpose. This is my dad's battle, I will let him fight it, and I will stand by him."
She in her statement also trained her guns on people whom she described as “opportunistic bhakts and RW trolls”.
