Today, the Supreme Court of India (SC) heard the petitions by actor Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Amazon Prime Video (India) & makers of ‘Tandav’, seeking protection from arrest.
They also petitioned the court demanding clubbing of several FIRs registered against them for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and telecasting 'objectionable content', reports ANI.
Senior advocate Fali Nariman appearing for makers of 'Tandav' told the apex court that some objectionable contents were removed and apologies were made. He added that after this, nothing survives in the case.
The court said that the police can file closure report if apologies were made and objectionable content was removed.
It refused to grant protection to the actor Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Amazon Prime Video (India) and makers of ‘Tandav’, from arrest in several FIRs against them and asked them to approach High Court for anticipatory bail or quashing of FIRs.
Senior advocate M Rohatgi, representing petitioners said that how could they go to every High Court as FIRs are in many states. He demanded that all the FIRs should be clubbed in Mumbai.
Reportedly, Supreme Court also issued notice on plea of 'Tandav' makers and actor to club several FIRs registered against them across the country.
