Donald Trump’s campaign is still battling with the aftermath of a leaked audio recording of him boasting about grabbing woman by the pussy. Not that he was doing great with woman voters earlier, but the latest expose has made things worse for him.
Nate Silver, who runs the fivethirtyeight portal on electoral math, has compiled the gender split from national polls released in this month so far. Here is what he found: Clinton leads Trump by 15 percentage points among women while trailing him by 5 points among men.
To put things in perspective, Silver compares the gender split in 2012 presidential election. On average, Mitt Romney led President Obama by 7 percentage points among men, losing women by 8 points.
What we can clearly see here is that not only Trump is losing women by almost double points compared to Romney in 2012, he is faring worse even among men.
What if only women voted?
Silver says that if only women voted, Trump would get just 80 electoral votes. Clinton would win the election in a landslide by clinching 458 votes. 270 are needed to win.
What if only men voted?
If this were the case, situation would be completely opposite. Trump would clean sweep the election by cornering 358 votes to Clinton’s 188.
No candidate in modern American political history has fared worse with women than Trump. It wouldn’t be unfair to say that women are defeating the Donald.
