With India's National Cyber Security Coordinator slated to release the names of its trusted suppliers soon, the Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei is reportedly confident of making o that list.
“We think about what is the logic (behind it) and what is possible. We don’t think Huawei will be blocked. We think this (trusted list) benefits the Indian market and is the right decision," Vice President of Huawei Asia-Pacific Jay Chen was quoted as saying by Economic Times during a virtual roundtable.
The development comes amid reports that Huawei may be kept out of the 'trusted sources' list for supply of 5G telecom equipment, which is set to be released soon.
Chen asserted that Huawei considers India to be very important not only from the 5G services perspective but also as a whole market.
He said that the company works closely with government and the customers for 5G services.
"We believe the Indian government will make the right decision, which will benefit the country.
He claimed that the Chinese firm has a "clear" record in India and has maintained an impressive engagement with the Indian government previously.
“India will welcome Huawei. We have the confidence,” Chen added.
