Social activist Anna Hazare has slammed Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Liquor policy scam.
"I am very saddened, that a man like Arvind Kejriwal, who used to work with me and had raised his voice against liquor, today he is preparing liquor policy," he said.
"But what can be done? Whatever happens now should happen according to the law," Hazare added.
"His arrest is because of his own deeds," Hazare said, news agency ANI reported.
Anna Hazare was the face of the anti-corruption movement in 2011, from which the AAP emerged.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on Thursday (21 March) night after he skipped nine summonses issued by the central probe agency.
The central probe agency arrested Kejriwal after the Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to grant him protection from arrest in the case.
Meanwhile, AAP has said that Kejriwal will continue to discharge his chief ministerial duties from jail - a prospect that may create a constitutional crisis.
Kejriwal filed a plea in the Supreme Court against his arrest but later decided to withdraw it.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was representing Kejriwal, told the top court that he will argue the case before the Magistrate regarding his remand when ED produces him before the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi.
