Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday (10 March). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee will contest from Diamond Harbour.
Abhishek Banerjee has been contesting from Diamond Harbour since 2014. Another notable name is Mahua Moitra, who is facing expulsion from the Lok Sabha over cash-for-query allegations. She will contest again from Krishnanagar.
The TMC has also declared candidates for the two seats currently held by Congress. Shahnawaz Ali Rehaan will contest from Malda Dakshin and Yousuf Pathan from Behrampore.
Sougata Roy has been repeated from Dum Dum while actress Nusrat Jahan has been dropped and Hazi Nurul Islam is the candidate from Basirhat.
Another actress Mimi Chakraborty has been replaced by yet another actress Sayoni Ghosh in Jadavpur. Mala Roy and Sudip Bandopadhyay have been repeated from Kolkata Dakshin and Kolkata Uttar respectively.
Prasoon Bandopadhyay and Kalyan Bandopadhyay too have been repeated from Howrah and Sreerampore respectively.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
