Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura on Thursday (23 November) and participated in the 'Mirabai Janmotsav' to commemorate the 525th birth anniversary of the Bhakti period poetess and Lord Krishna devotee.
During the event, PM Modi acknowledged the sacrifices made by Mirabai's family and the people of Rajasthan for the protection of religious sites. According to India Today, he emphasised that the people of Rajasthan acted as a protective wall for India's soul, highlighting their sacrifice and bravery.
Sharing images of his visit, the Prime Minister posted, "Got the privilege of divine worship at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura. The beautiful sight of Girdhar Gopal, who resides in every corner of Braj, left me emotional! I prayed for happiness, prosperity and well-being for all family members across the country."
PM Modi was welcomed by BJP MP Hema Malini and felicitated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Adityanath credited the Prime Minister for spreading yoga globally and achieving global recognition for the Kumbh Mela.
He also referred to the upcoming inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in January 2024, expressing gratitude for the positive changes in Mathura, Vrindavan, and other pilgrimage places during the last nine years of PM Modi's leadership.
