In yet another fresh spat in the Rajasthan Congress, Congress leader Sachin Pilot launched an attack on the Rajasthan Chief Minister and his party colleague Ashok Gehlot, today (8 May).
“His Leader seems to be BJP’s Vasundhara Raje, not Sonia Gandhi of Congress”, said the leader as he responded to Gehlot’s recent statement given in Dholpur, praising the BJP ex-CM Vasundhara Raje on saving his government in 2020.
This was during a period where Sachin Pilot led an internal revolt against Gehlot in the intra-Congress feud in the State.
Earlier on Sunday (7 May), Ashok Gehlot had claimed that he survived the revolt by some Congress MLAs in 2020 because BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal refused to support a conspiracy to topple an elected government through money power.
He had also spoken against the rebel Congress MLAs, saying they should return the money they had taken from the BJP so that they can carry out their duty without any pressure.
Sachin Pilot, addressing the media, also denied Ashok Gehlot’s claims of him having taken money from Amit Shah for the revolt.
He also said he will hold a five-day-long 'Jan Sangarsh Yatra' from Ajmer to Jaipur starting May 11 to raise issues like corruption and other issues concerning the youth.
Notably, Gehlot's then deputy Sachin Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs had revolted against his leadership in July 2020.
The month-long crisis had ended after the intervention of the party's high command and Pilot was subsequently removed as the deputy chief minister and state Congress president.
Since then, the Rajasthan CM and Pilot have been in a constant spat, hinting at an internal power struggle in the state congress machinery.
