Heritage: What we found in a random village in Tamil Nadu

Dear Reader,
The picture above is that of a menhir, i.e a large stone, placed upright in pre-historic times to either mark a grave or perhaps to commemorate someone.
This menhir, and dozens of similar stone age artefacts, have been found in a village called Kodumanal in the Erode district of Tamil Nadu.
This picture is part of a detailed travel report by my friend Aravindan Neelakandan. You see, Kodumanal is an extremely interesting archaeological site - they've found stuff from the stone age AND from the bronze age.
They've found things that confirm that this place was a large settlement and that it was pretty literate with pottery etc being excavated.
But there is neither a museum nor enough awareness about Kodumanal and its fascinating historical importance.
This place could be India's mini Stonehenge, no?
Why is it ignored?
We don't know.
