Chinmaya Mission’s event in Chennai
The Chinmaya Education Movement will hold a one-of-a-kind music concert in Chennai on 19 October 2018, titled ‘Shiva – The Cosmic Dancer’, which will be the first of a series of events to mark the organisation’s golden jubilee.
The anniversary programme will serve as a fundraiser for building a state-of-the-art sports academy in Chennai, Tamil Nadu – a project the Chinmaya Vidyalaya board hopes will further the responsibility of building great sportspersons for this country.
Indo-American composer and music producer of Winds Of Samsara fame, Ricky Kej, will lead the musical titled, Jhabhanga da dash, in which six Grammy artists from four countries, along with 300 Chinmaya Vidyalaya students, will perform.
In 2015, Ricky Kej won a Grammy for his album Winds Of Samsara, which was produced in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed African flautist, Wouter Kellerman. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then French president Francois Hollande launched Kej’s next album, Shanti Samsara at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November 2015.
In 2018, Ricky Kej featured in the prestigious ‘Real Leaders 100 List’.
Kellerman, Rocky Dawuni, Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Lonnie Park and Laura Dickinson will share the stage with Ricky Kej at the programme.
The Chinmaya Education Movement, which runs one of the most prestigious chains of schools in India, the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, was conceived by Swami Chinmayananda. Serving students of all races and origin, the vidyalaya had its humble beginning in a hut, and has now grown by leaps and bounds to gain an international presence.
