The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during his address to the nation on 12th May, 2020, made a clarion call for AatmaNirbhar BharatAbhiyan to propel the nation to become economically self-reliant. He identified the five pillars of AatmaNirbhar Bharat - Economy, Infrastructure, System, Demography and Demand.

To build a high-quality discourse on AatmNirbhar Bharat, Swarajya in association with Vedanta Resources Limited is organising 10-part webinar series titled 'The Road To Atmanirbhar Bharat'.

The webinar series will focus on policy various sectoral themes on 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' including energy self-sufficiency, metal and minerals, agriculture, defence manufacturing, electronics.

The webinar will feature policymakers, subject matter experts and leading thinkers.

The inaugural session on November 28, Saturday at 4.00 PM IST will feature Piyush Goyal, Union Cabinet Minister of Railways/Commerce and Industry, who will deliver an address on 'The Vision And Philosophy Of AatmaNirbhar Bharat'.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel and Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog will be the featured speakers in the next two sessions of the webinar scheduled to be held on December 2 and December 8 respectively.

"The best way to interpret Atmanirbhar is to reduce it to two essentials. It should mean an ability to cater to both domestic and export markets using the scale economies that India's large consuming class provides. It should not mean becoming atmanirbhar in every product or service we can produce, for that works against the basic idea of comparative advantage. During the webinar series, we hope to engage with key policymakers to understand the challenges involved in operationalising the philosophy" said R. Jagannathan, Editorial Director, Swarajya.
