On Monday (21 August) evening, an incident of stone-pelting occurred during a religious procession in Bagaha town of Bihar.

About twelve individuals, including four policemen, were injured in the clashes. One of the injured is in critical condition, Jagran reported.

To address this situation, the authorities of West Champaran district have implemented prohibitory orders across the larger Bagaha sub-division and have reinforced security measures.

The event transpired around 4 pm on Monday when stones were reportedly hurled at a procession held by Mahaviri Akhara.

Kiran Kumar Jadhav, Superintendent of Police in Bagaha, stated, "The situation is now under control. We have deployed additional personnel in sensitive areas and are working to identify those responsible for instigating the disturbance."

A witness recounted, "The stone pelting began as the procession entered the Ratanmala area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bagaha town police station."

Shops and bikes were vandalized and set on fire along with disturbances caused by agitators. Following the stone-pelting, the main Bagaha-Bettiah road remained closed from 3 in the afternoon until 7 in the evening.

It's worth noting that Bagaha hasn't experienced any recent incidents of communal clashes.
