Cognizant Files Lawsuit Against Infosys In US Court, Says Trade Secret Stolen To Develop Competing Software In Healthcare

Cognizant TriZetto Software Group, a subsidiary of leading IT Major Cognizant Solutions, has slapped a lawsuit in a Texas court against Infosys, accusing the latter of misappropriating its trade secrets and stealing confidential information to develop competing software and service offerings.

Trizetto, cquired by Cognizant in 2014, is a healthcare-focused player offering its customers (predominantly hospitals, doctors, and medical insurance companies) a suite of software products as well as consulting, IT, and business process services.

Trizetto accused Infosys of gaining access to its closely guarded, proprietary software offerings, and related technical documentation, under the guise of non-disclosure Agreements (NDAs) when the two companies worked together on projects on Infosys's clients.

"Infosys abused its access to TriZetto's confidential Information and trade Secret Information and exceeded the scope of its permissible access pursuant to the NDAs, and then engaged in an illicit scheme to misuse and misappropriate TriZetto’s confidential information and trade Secret Information for improper purposes." the lawsuit noted.

Facets are used by companies that pay for administrated medical services, and prescription drug benefits on behalf of health insurers, larger employers, and healthcare providers.

Cognizant also said Infosys broke the law by creating software to extract data from QNXT that includes confidential TriZetto information and trade secrets.

"Infosys designed the QNXT Adapter to load data from QNXT to a database that it created using the information it gained by examining the proprietary Software, Interfaces, Data Model, and other TriZetto Confidential Information and trade Secret Information," the lawsuit said.

Infosys denied the allegations in a statement and said it would defend itself in court.
