India's Coal Production Sees Double-Digit Growth In November With 24 Of 37 Mines Operating At Over Their Full Capacity

India's coal production saw an 11.66 per cent increase in November 2022, reaching 75.87 million tonnes (MT) from 67.94 MT during the same month last year, according to the Ministry of Coal.

The growth was led by Coal India Ltd, which recorded a 12.82 per cent increase in production, while Singareni Collieries Company Limited and captive mines/others saw growth of 7.84 per cent and 6.87 per cent, respectively, as per the latest figures of the Ministry of Coal.


The increase in coal production also led to a 3.55 per cent rise in power utilities despatch and a 16.28 per cent increase in coal-based power generation compared to November 2021.

Meanwhile, overall power generation in November 2022 was 14.63 per cent higher than the previous year.
