NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPCREL) has said that it will supply 1300 MW (1.3 GW) clean power for powering Greenko’s upcoming Green Ammonia Plant at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
NTPC Renewable Energy, the wholly-owned subsidiary of state-run NTPC Limited, signed a term sheet agreement with Greenko ZeroC Pvt Ltd, the green molecule production arm of Hyderabad-based Greenko Group, on Tuesday (28 March).
The Term Sheet was signed by Rajiv Gupta, Chief General Manager of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, and Mahesh Kolli, Founder and Joint MD of the Greenko Group, at the NTPC office in New Delhi.
"The agreement between the two companies is one of the world’s single largest contract for supply of roundthe-clock renewable supply for an industrial client," NTPC said in a statement on Wednesday (29 March).
Greenko's Kakinada project is a multi-phase green ammonia production and export facility which is in the process of adding up to 1 MTPA of green ammonia production capacity by 2027.
At present, Kakinada unit produces green ammonia based on an electrolyser powered by round-the-clock electricity produced by 2.5 GW of renewable assets.
