Quick commerce startup Dunzo, backed by Reliance and Google, announced the complete integration of its seller app with the state-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
This integration extends to its B2B logistics vertical, Dunzo For Business (D4B), enabling 1,500 local merchants to join the network in just one week.
Looking ahead, Dunzo plans to onboard an additional 20,000 merchants from various sectors such as food, grocery, and pharmaceuticals within the next 45 days.
The seller app, which joined the ONDC less than two weeks ago, is already witnessing high volumes.
“It’s been less than two weeks since we’ve been live on the network, and we’ve already hit peak order volumes of more than 3000 a day for groceries and other essential items through our local merchants,” said Dalvir Suri, Dunzo’s co-founder and head of Dunzo Merchant Services.
During the meeting, discussions were held concerning the challenges faced by the sector. The government is also expected to unveil a set of national policies for this segment in the near future.
ONDC, created by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, serves as a non-profit platform, offering an alternative to conventional online shopping. It operates as a facilitative platform with the mission to "revolutionise" digital commerce.
As per recent reports, the network has also achieved the milestone of 1.1 million retail orders and 5.4 million mobility transactions since its establishment last year.
According to its chief T Koshy, ONDC sold 10,000 kilos of tomatoes at Rs 70 per kg in the national capital within six days.
The government has set a target to increase the country's e-commerce penetration to 25 per cent within the next two years.
