Reliance Jio will soon launch an affordable 4G enabled laptop to replicate the success of its budget-friendly JioPhone.
The JioPhone, which was launched last year, has been the top-selling smartphone in the sub-$100 segment.
The phone accounted for a fifth of the market over the last three quarters, according to a Counterpoint Research report.
Now, Reliance Jio plans to launch a budget laptop priced at Rs 15,000, with an embedded 4G sim card.
The company has partnered with global giants Qualcomm and Microsoft for the JioBook, with the former powering its computing chips based on Arm technology, and the Windows OS maker providing support for some apps, reports Business Standard.
The JioBook will be available to enterprise customers such as schools and government institutes from this month.
The laptop is likely to be launched for other consumers within the next three months, sources were cited in the report as saying.
Further, the company, which earlier this month launched 5G services in select cities of the country, also plans to launch a 5G enabled version of its JioPhone.
