Bihar: Adani Group Plans To Invest Rs 8,700 Crore In State, To Create 10,000 Job Opportunities

Adani Enterprises director, Pranav Adani, announced today (14 December) that the Adani Group is set to invest Rs 8,700 crore in various sectors in Bihar.

This substantial investment is expected to generate direct and indirect jobs for around 10,000 people.

Adani made the announcement while addressing the plenary session of Bihar Business Connect 2023.

This event is an initiative by the Nitish Kumar government's to reach out to business leaders to bring investment into the state and fulfil its promise to create jobs in the backward state.

Speaking at the event, Adani expressed that Bihar is now perceived as a attractive destination for investment.

"The change is visible, especially in social reforms, law and order situation, literacy and women empowerment," he said.

He stated that the Adani Group supports Kumar's development vision for Bihar.

He mentioned that the conglomerate has already made an investment of Rs 850 crore in the logistics and gas distribution sectors of Bihar. This investment has generated approximately 3,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

"We now want to make our investment ten-fold," he said, adding that this ₹ 8,700 crore investment plan would see the Group working on new sectors in the state.

The Adani Group is exploring the possibility to bring Adani Wilmar Group, a joint venture working in the food and beverages sector, to Bihar.

Also, the group has planned to start manufacturing cement in Bihar.

The cement manufacturing projects is aiming for a 10 million metric tonne target and is expected to create about 3,000 job opportunities.

The Group has future investment plans in the production of smart electricity meters, according to Adani. As part of this initiative, they intend to install 28 lakh meters in five different cities.

Praising the Chief Minister's focus on Ease of Doing Business, Adani thanked him for his support and encouragement.

"We thank you for the opportunity to work in Bihar. I guarantee to provide quarterly updates on all the investments we have made," he said.
