Delhi High Court Asks Ashneer Grover To Pay Rs 2 Lakh Fine For 'Defamatory' Social Media Post Against BharatPe

In a recent development, Ashneer Grover, former managing director of BharatPe, tendered an apology before the Delhi High Court for posting "defamatory" social media content against the fintech company.
As per the report by Indian Express, the court has directed Grover to pay Rs 2 lakh as part of the resolution.
The application filed by BharatPe sought a "permanent injunction" against Grover, restraining him and his family from making defamatory statements about the company, its directors, and employees on social media.
Appearing for Grover, advocate Giriraj Subramanium submitted an affidavit, conveying his client's apology and an undertaking not to post such content in the future.
The court, observed that it is “appalled” to notice the “persistent blatant” violation of the High Court’s orders by Grover.
However, the court decided to close the matter, binding Grover to his undertaking, subject to the payment of Rs 2 lakh.
The amount was directed to be used for the welfare of families of clerks who lost their lives due to Covid.
